Ebenezer Music School

Mr. Minjun Jo is an acclaimed South Korean classical saxophonist, known worldwide for his exceptional artistry and captivating performances. Through creating charming music and passionate exploration, Minjun is actively involved in the field of saxophone performance.

Currently pursuing a Doctoral of Musical Arts at the esteemed College Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati, Minjun's commitment to musical excellence is reflected in his educational journey. Prior to his doctoral studies, he earned a Master of Music degree from the same institution, building upon the solid foundation he established during his Bachelor of Music program at the University of Chung-Ang. Minjun&s remarkable talent has graced numerous stages, conferences, and competitions. His musical prowess has been showcased through his active participation in various orchestras and chamber music ensembles, highlighting his versatility as a musician. Notably, his membership in the acclaimed Impetuoso Saxophone Quartet garnered recognition as an Honorable Mention recipient in
the prestigious MTNA Chamber Competition. Moreover, Minjun had the privilege of performing with the quartet for the renowned Navy Band International Saxophone Symposium, further solidifying his reputation as a gifted saxophonist.

Ye Jin Goo (Violin/Viola Instructor)

Korea-born violist Ye Jin Goo moved to Canada in 2005. She has participated and won numerous awards in competitions including All-TV Music competition, Kiwanis Music Festival and Burlington Rotary Music Festival and many more. Recently, she performed the Stamitz Viola concerto with the AD Hoc Orchestra at Bloomington. She has also participated in prestigious summer festivals including Orfrord, Tanglewood, New York String Quartet Seminar and many others. Throughout her career, she was invited to participate in masterclasses with Roberto Diaz, Kim Kashkashian, Misha Amory, Atar Arad, James Dunham, and many others. After earning a Bachelor of Music degree at the Eastman School of Music under the tutelage of Carol Rodland, and Master’s degree at the Jacobs School of Music, under the tutelage of Edward Gazouleas.

She is currently working on her Doctorate of Music Degree in University of Cincinnati under turtledge of Jan Gruning from Ariel Quartet. She has performed with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Milwaukee Symphony. and the Columbus Symphony. Aside from her studies, she is also an advocate teacher, she teaches numerous students from Milwaukee, and Chicago and Cincinnati area.

Joshua Kim (Cello Instructor)

J. Joshua Kim is a recent graduate from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music with a Master’s and Artist Diploma degree in cello performance. Kim began his cello
studies at the age of five under tutelage of Samuel Woodward, a former student of the late Pablo Casals. Kim continued to advance his studies under Dr. Alexander Russakovsky of University of Southern Mississippi. During this transition, Kim’s musical and technical ability exceptionally grew and decided to pursue music as a career. At the age of thirteen, Kim performed as a soloist with the Mobile Symphony Youth Orchestra performing the finale of Haydn’s C Major concerto. Shortly after, he had his first professional solo debut with the
Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra performing the last movement of Elgar’s Cello Concerto. Kim was a prize winner in several competitions including the Lois Pickard Competition, Birmingham Music Club Scholarship Competition, and the Louisiana Philharmonic Concerto Competition. Recently, he placed second prize in the CCM Chamber Music Competition with his piano trio. In 2018, Kim received his Bachelor’s degree as a full scholarship student at the University of Alabama under the tutelage of Carlton McCreery. During his undergraduate studies, Kim was given the opportunity to perform as a soloist with the Alabama Symphony. In result of winning the University’s Concerto Competition, Kim performed Dvorak’s Cello Concerto with the Huxford Symphony under the baton of Dr. Blake Richardson. In his final year at University of Alabama, Kim won the section cello position with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra. He has been a tenure member since 2019.

Kim serves as a substitute cellist for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, and Illinois Symphony Orchestra. Kim has attended prestigious music festivals such as Meadowmount School of Music, Green Mountain Music Festival, and Eastern Music Festival. He has received masterclasses from Yo-Yo Ma, Andres Diaz, Hans Jørgen Jensen, Stephen Geber, Mark Kosower, Melissa Kraut, and Sara Sant’Ambrogio. Kim performs on an 1844 Gaetano Guadagnini cello. He is currently pursuing a doctoral degree at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.

Sieun Park (Flute Instructor)

Sieun Park is a fourth year undergraduate flute performance student at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music and is currently studying with Professor Demarre McGill. Past teachers include: 2011-2013: Grace Wang 2013-2014: Marlee Lindon 2015-2020: Jee Young Rachel Choe.

She has been involved with the following orchestras, Peabody Wind Orchestra(2016-20), Howard County High School GT Orchestra(2017-19), with TwoSetViolin(2018-19) and with the Baltimore Symphony in the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, and the Peabody Youth Orchestra(2019-20) among several others. In 2019, Park won the Peabody Wind Orchestra Concerto Competition and performed Jacques Ibert’s Flute Concerto with the orchestra in February of 2020. After the start of the Covid-19 pandemic and the resumption of in person activities, Park has been active in CCM’s Wind Symphony and Concert Orchestra(2021-current). As for awards/ scholarships, programs, and festivals, Park was a four year full-scholarship recipient in the Peabody Preparatory’s Performance Academy(2016-20), won the Flute Society of Washington Student Honors-senior division competition and the Washington National Youth Music Competition- Young Artist competition(senior division) in 2017, was selected to attend in the 2018 Marina Piccinini International Masterclass, won the 2018-19 Fran G. Zarubick Honors Competition at Peabody Conservatory, was accepted into the 2019 MPulse Summer Performing Arts Institutes - Flute Institute, and attended the Oberlin Flute Academy 2019, having been awarded the Robert Willoughby Scholarship. Park also officially received The Gold President’s Volunteer Service Award and APPA UN NGO Leadership Award in 2019. In her 2022 fall semester at CCM, Park won first place in the CCM UG Instrumental Scholarship Competition. Lastly, during the summer of 2023, Park attended Orford Music Academy with scholarship.

As for other related services and activities, Sieun Park also teaches private flute/music lessons/classes and has been involved with volunteer work for the APPA since 2008. Park is an APPA UN T&T mentoring program volunteer, a part of the T&T Advisory Committee Chair, and is a UN college representative for APPA (UN Economic and Social Council Member NGO).

Seung-ah Kim (Violin Instructor)

Seung-ah Kim started her love for violin at the age of five in South Korea. She entered Ewha Womans University as the top pick of all graduating class of the Music College, earning her a full scholarship. After graduating, she studied violin performance and pedagogy at Northwestern University in Chicago with full scholarship and received her master’s degree. Her passion in teaching led her to obtain her second master’s degree in music education at Konkuk University. Seung-ah was awarded the Anna Lockwood Award along with various competition awards. She has appeared in master classes of world’s renowned artists such as Berliner Philharmoniker string quartet, and she played as a guest player in professional orchestras. She has performed around the world, including U.S, South Korea, Japan, Mongolia, Cambodia and Uganda, from prisons to grand concert halls, as a soloist and chamber musician.

She can teach a large spectrum of students, from beginners to advanced students and has taught students in schools, churches, academies, and private studios. Her focus is to teach proper techniques that are essential for quality playing. She values the power of sound and music that touches the deepest parts of the human soul and loves to share the joy of music through her performance, teaching jobs, and volunteer work. Her work is based in the Greater Cincinnati area, but she can also be found on tours.
